Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: July 27, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to MyPapers. These Terms & Conditions govern your access to and use of our website, our certificate-verification service, and the registrar console provided to partner institutions.
By accessing this website or submitting a credential for verification, you agree to comply with and be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. The Service
MyPapers seals academic credentials issued by partner institutions with a set of security shields, and then answers the question of whether a document presented later matches the record the institution sealed. The verification service on this site is operational and connected to our production system.
We are not the issuer of any credential. Institutions issue their own certificates using their own signing key; we provide the sealing, storage, and verification infrastructure. The accuracy of the underlying academic information — a name, a grade, a graduation date — is the responsibility of the issuing institution, and a MyPapers result confirms that a document matches what the institution issued, not that the institution’s own records are correct.
Illustrative material is labelled as such. Please see our Disclaimer for a plain description of which parts of this site are the live engine and which are a preview of the registrar console, and for the fact that all graduate records currently available for public lookup are fictional test data.
3. Verification Results & Reliance
A verification result is a factual statement about a document, produced by a deterministic identifier-and-signature check. It is not a background check, a character reference, an endorsement of any individual, or legal or professional advice.
You remain responsible for your own due diligence. A result must not be used as the sole basis for a hiring, admissions, immigration, licensing, or disciplinary decision, and we accept no liability for such a decision. Where a result is reported as altered, unrecognised, or not checked, that is information for you to act on in the context of your own process — it is not a determination of fraud against any person.
Verification depends on the record supplied and maintained by the issuing institution. An institution may revoke or re-issue a credential, which changes what a later verification returns.
4. Uploading a Document
You may verify a credential either by entering its MyPapers ID or by uploading the certificate as a PDF, scan, screenshot, or photograph. We want to be precise about what happens to an uploaded file, because a picture of somebody’s degree is sensitive by nature.
- The file is transmitted over an encrypted connection to our secure vault, which is the only tier permitted to handle documents. It is not processed on our global network and is not written to globally replicated storage.
- It is inspected in memory. We read the QR code, the hidden watermark, and the printed text in order to identify which credential the document claims to be, and compare those printed details against the issued record.
- The file is then discarded. We do not store, index, publish, or retain uploaded documents, and we do not use them to train any model.
- Only the claims already printed on the certificate are returned to you. The transcript and registration number stay in the vault unless an approved verifier is authorised to unlock them.
By uploading a document you confirm that you are entitled to submit it for verification. Uploads are subject to a size limit and a fair-use rate limit per connection.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the platform solely for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Probe, enumerate, or attempt to guess MyPapers IDs, or otherwise try to harvest credential records in bulk.
- Attempt to circumvent authentication, rate limits, or the access controls that separate public verification from full record retrieval.
- Submit malicious files, or attempt to disrupt, overload, or compromise the integrity of the service.
- Upload a document you have no legitimate reason to verify, or use a result to harass, profile, or discriminate against any individual.
- Represent yourself as an approved verifier that you are not, or share verifier credentials issued to you.
- Reproduce the MyPapers security shields, branding, or certificate layouts in a way intended to imply that a document was sealed by us when it was not.
6. Institutional Partners
Where your institution issues credentials through MyPapers, additional terms apply and are set out in your partnership agreement. In summary: your institution remains the controller of its student data and the authority over what is issued, revoked, or corrected; we process that data on your instructions in order to provide the service.
Each institution is issued its own signing key and its own console accounts. Records belonging to one institution are never exposed to another, and are never added to the public demonstration set. An institution may suspend a credential at any time, and may end its participation and require deletion of its records — see our Privacy Policy for how that is carried out.
Charges for credential issuance are set out on the Pricing page and in your agreement. Verification is free and unlimited for the people checking a certificate.
7. Intellectual Property
The MyPapers name, branding, custom iconography, visual design, site layouts, and platform code are the intellectual property of MyPapers and its creators.
An institution retains ownership of its own certificate designs and its own academic records. Sealing a certificate through MyPapers grants us no ownership of the underlying document or its content.
Reuse, reproduction, or adaptation of the Four Security Shields presentation system for commercial purposes without explicit permission is prohibited.
8. Limitation of Liability
The website and the verification service are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. While the service is designed for high availability, we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we make no warranty as to the accuracy or completeness of academic information supplied to us by an issuing institution.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any decision — including hiring, admissions, visa, or background-check outcomes — made in reliance on a verification result. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Liability owed to an institutional partner is governed by the limits set out in that partner’s agreement.
9. Changes & Governing Law
We may update these terms as the platform develops. The “Last Updated” date above marks the current version, and material changes affecting institutional partners will be communicated directly.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from use of this website is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Questions about these terms can be sent to info@mypapers.co.
