A MyPapers result is a deterministic check, not an opinion. We compare the identifier and the cryptographic signature sealed into a document against the record the issuing institution created. There is no scoring model deciding whether a certificate “looks” genuine, and we never return a confidence percentage for authenticity.

This matters in both directions. Authentic means the document matches a sealed record issued by the institution. Altered means we identified the credential but the details printed on the page disagree with the issued record — the case where a genuine certificate has had a grade or a name repainted over an untouched QR code. These are reported as different results, on purpose, because they mean different things.

A result is evidence about a document. It is not a background check, an endorsement of a person, or professional advice, and it does not replace your own due-diligence obligations for hiring, admissions, immigration, or licensing decisions.

The credentials you can look up on this site today belong to fictional graduates of fictional universities, created by us specifically so that the public demonstration exposes no real person’s data. Institutions such as Padma International University, Meghna University of Science & Technology, Jamuna Regional University and Surma Delta University do not exist, and graduates such as Ayesha Rahman are invented. Any resemblance to a real institution, programme, or student is coincidental.

This is a deliberate choice rather than a limitation of the platform. A public demonstration that let anyone browse genuine graduate records would be exactly the kind of exposure our architecture exists to prevent. Records belonging to partner institutions are never added to the public demonstration set.

We would rather tell you where the engine stops than let you discover it later.

• A photograph cannot be byte-compared to the issued file. A picture of a page is a new file, so the seal and identity-metadata shields are reported as not applicable to an image — never as a pass. Only the original sealed PDF is checked on all four shields. For a photo or screenshot, the tamper check is the comparison of the printed details against the issued record.
• A page too degraded to read gets no content check. We only report a mismatch when two independent readings of the document agree, so a poor photo returns “not checked” rather than an accusation. That protects honest graduates from a false alarm, and it means a very poor image yields a weaker check, which we say on the result.
• We detect a value that was changed, not one that was invented. A printed detail altered from the issued record is caught. A detail added to a record that never carried one has no original to disagree with.

MyPapers is onboarding its first partner universities for the upcoming graduating class. Early Access partners are issued their own signing key, their own registrar console accounts, and their own isolated set of records.
